"Injured in a collision? Speak with Merabi Law before accepting an insurance company's version of what your claim is worth."

Merabi Law represents people injured in automobile accidents and works to document the full impact of the collision. The firm communicates with insurers, gathers evidence, evaluates available coverage, and pursues compensation supported by the client's injuries and losses.

Shannon Merabi, Esq. spent much of her legal career as in house counsel, and she knows how a claims department values a file. The first offer arrives before treatment is finished. The recorded statement is used to trim liability. Every gap in care is read as proof the injury was minor. Merabi Law prepares the file so that none of those moves work.

The firm represents drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists hurt on Beverly Hills streets, on the freeways, and anywhere in California, as part of its personal injury practice.

Collisions Merabi Law Handles

Every kind of crash, one standard of preparation.

Under California law a driver who fails to use reasonable care is responsible for the harm that follows. Fault is proven with evidence that starts disappearing the day of the crash.

VehiclesCar, SUV and rideshare collisionsPrivate vehicles and rideshare trips, as a driver or a passenger. Rideshare crashes can involve more than one policy depending on what the driver was doing at impact.
Crash typesRear end and intersection crashesFollowing too closely, running a red light or stop sign, and unsafe left turns. Vehicle paths, the point of impact, skid marks and camera angles establish who had the right of way.
Vulnerable road usersPedestrian and bicycle injuriesPeople on foot and on bikes have no protection and often suffer serious injury. Drivers owe them a duty of care, in crosswalks and beyond them.
CoverageUninsured and underinsured motorist claimsWhen the driver at fault has no insurance or too little, the client's own uninsured motorist coverage may pay. These claims are made against the client's own insurer, which does not make them easy.
Hit and runCollisions where the driver fledA driver who leaves can often be identified through footage, witnesses and paint transfer. If not, uninsured motorist coverage may respond. Report the crash to the police immediately.
Serious injuriesInjuries caused by negligent drivingFractures, spinal and head injuries, and injuries that need surgery or long recovery. Future care has to be documented, not just the bills to date.

How a Collision Claim Is Built

The collision, reconstructed.

A collision claim is won on the record. Merabi Law assembles it in the order the other side will attack it: liability first, then the injuries, then the coverage.

  1. 1Scene evidencePhotos of the vehicles, the intersection and the debris, dashcam and phone video, and written requests for nearby camera footage before it is overwritten.
  2. 2Police report and witnessesThe collision report, the officer's diagram and any citations, plus witness statements while memories are fresh.
  3. 3Medical documentationRecords from the first visit through the last, the treatment plan and the prognosis, so the injury is tied to the crash in the providers' own words.
  4. 4Liability analysisVehicle paths, the point of impact, skid marks and camera angles measured against the Vehicle Code rules the other driver broke.
  5. 5Coverage evaluationThe at fault driver's policy, the vehicle owner's, employer or rideshare coverage where it applies, and the client's own uninsured motorist and medical payments coverage.
  6. 6Demand and litigationA focused demand supported by the file, and a lawsuit when the insurer refuses a fair resolution. Major decisions are discussed with the client.

What To Do After a Crash

Protect your health, then protect the claim.

The insurer's process starts the same day as the collision. These steps keep the record honest.

Get checked the same day

Go to urgent care or the emergency room even if the pain seems minor. Neck, back and head injuries often surface days later, and the adjuster will treat the gap before the first visit as proof that nothing happened. Follow the treatment plan and keep every appointment.

Report the collision

Call the police from the scene and get the report number. California also requires a report to the DMV within ten days when anyone is injured. Notify your own insurer promptly, because most policies require it, but give facts only and decline to guess about fault or injuries.

Do not give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer

The other side's adjuster may call within a day, sounding helpful. A recorded statement is taken to find inconsistencies and lock in a version of events before the injury is understood. Politely decline and refer the call to your attorney.

Document everything, and stay off social media

Photograph the vehicles, the scene and your injuries as they heal. Keep a daily note of pain, missed work and activities you cannot do. Do not post about the crash; insurers read social media.

Call before accepting anything

The first offer is calibrated for people who have not yet learned what their claim involves. Merabi Law reviews the facts for free, explains the deadlines that apply, and, once retained, takes over every conversation with the insurers.

Ask Your Question
What if the other driver has no insurance?

The client's own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage may apply, and a vehicle owner or employer may share responsibility. Merabi Law evaluates every available policy first.

Should I accept the insurance company's first offer?

Not before the full extent of the injury and the losses is known. Once a release is signed the claim is over. Merabi Law measures every offer against the documented medical costs, lost income and the effect on daily life.

What if I was partly at fault?

California applies pure comparative negligence. A recovery is reduced by the injured person's share of fault, but it is not barred. Insurers assign fault generously to the injured person; the evidence decides the real number.

How long do I have to file a car accident claim in California?

Generally two years from the date of injury, and a written government claim within six months when a public entity is involved. Some situations shorten or extend those periods, so get advice early.

I did not feel hurt at the scene. Do I still have a claim?

Possibly. Many collision injuries appear days later. See a doctor as soon as symptoms begin, tell the provider about the crash, and keep the records. The claim depends on the medical evidence.

Do I have to go to court?

Many cases resolve without trial, while others require litigation. Merabi Law prepares each matter based on its facts and discusses strategy and major decisions with the client.
